New to the HN family this year, Mr. James Litteral teaches Marching Band, Jazz Band, Choir, History of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Music Theory, and Symphonic Band. He also leads the Marching and Pep Bands.
On Saturday, April 9, HN's members of the diocesan-wide group Catholic Schools for Peace and Justice (CSPJ) collaborated with students from Beaumont, St. Ignatius, and Walsh to host "A Night to Shine"—a dance for people with mental and physical disabilities from Empower Sports.
Congratulations to senior Jesssica Klonowski, who will attend Baldwin Wallace University next fall. Jessica was accepted into BW’s honors program and earned multiple scholarships, including the President’s Scholarship, worth $21,000 per year, and the BW Alumni Scholarship, worth $2,000 per year.
Congratulations to senior Kiersten Hopko who will be attending the Conservatory of Music at Baldwin Wallace University with a double major in Music Education and Music Therapy. Kiersten also received BW’s President’s Scholarship.
Congratulations to senior Matthew Vrabel who was named the Knights of Columbus Young Person of the Year. Matthew has also been accepted to OSU, Dayton, OU, and Kent.
HN business teacher and Investment Club moderator, Mrs. Cynthia Farley earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Cleveland State University. Before coming to HN, where she has taught for the past five years, Mrs. Farley taught for three years at Elyria High School. At HN, she is responsible for investing, accounting, introduction to business and personal finance, and entrepreneurship courses.
Ms. Hennessey's AP Biology class recently finished a unit on DNA and genetic engineering and are moving on to study natural selection. They transitioned between these units with an inquiry-based lab in which they genetically engineered E. coli to pick up plasmid DNA that contained genes with antibiotic resistance to either ampicillin or kanamycin.
Congratulations to senior Connor Preisel who has received scholarships to play baseball and study business at Miami University. In addition to his athletic scholarship, Connor earned Miami’s Merit Scholarship for his grades and a Bridges Scholarship after attending an overnight seminar on campus in November.
