Congratulations to senior Mallory Tomblin who will be attending the University of Toledo where she has been accepted into the nursing program.
Mal recalls that she loved Toledo’s campus when she visited, and the university fit all of her criteria, including distance from home, tuition, and a strong nursing program. Her mom also attended Toledo and often shared stories about her own college experiences, which, Mal says, influenced her decision as well.
After college, Mal—who describes herself as “always a math and science person”—plans to become a critical care nurse before returning to school to become a nurse anesthetist.
Consistent with her future plans, Mal identifies Anatomy and Physiology as her favorite class at HN. She says, “Mrs. McCafferty does such a great job at keeping her classes engaged in the topic—although anatomy has never been boring to me—and has given us ways to study that will help us in college!” She also notes that Anatomy and Physiology offered her opportunities to study topics that she otherwise would not have encountered until college.
Mal encourages underclassmen to be yourself and “not let others influence any of the decisions you make.” She also says, “Be safe, be smart, but have fun! Enjoy your high school years because they really do go by quickly. You get more out of high school than just the material that is taught to you.”
Congratulations to Mal, and stay tuned for more senior profiles!
