For this #TBT, we share a special article written 53 years ago by sports reporter Dan Coughlin for Cleveland's The Plain Dealer. It feels fitting that we share it this week. Not just because our football team is playing in a Regional Final tomorrow night, but also because Thanksgiving is upon us, and we at Holy Name have so much to be grateful for this year.
The blessings we have had thus far during the 2022-2023 school year are abundant, and cannot all be listed here. Our athletic programs have had incredible seasons. Band Members, the Drill Team, and Cheerleaders have all made football games electric. The Fall Play performed to nearly sell out crowds. We have celebrated multiple retreats and Masses together. Esports has catapulted its way to the top tier in multiple games. Two students were named National Merit Commended Students. In-house speakers and off-campus field trips have resumed. A new Service Program has launched. Triple Threat Club Day has become the most anticipated day of the quarter.
We could continue on, but for brevity's sake, we will leave you with this quote from the very end of the article: "...everyone will know that the spirit of Holy Name will never die." Our spirit - our tradition - remains strong, and we are blessed because of it. All Hail Holy Name, and Happy (early) Thanksgiving from Queens Highway!
