The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland and Holy Name High School are pleased to accept applications for the position of Assistant Principal for Academics. Founded in 1914, Holy Name High School is a diocesan-sponsored, co-educational, comprehensive high school with a college preparatory emphasis and is committed to leading young adults to Christ by educating them in mind, body, and spirit. With a population of more than 580 students in grades nine through twelve, Holy Name High School provides young men and women with a nurturing and supportive educational environment in which to grow academically, spiritually, socially, and morally.
The Assistant Principal for Academics works in collaboration with the Principal of Holy Name, the Assistant Principal for Student Life and Discipline, School Guidance Counselors, and the Holy Name faculty to advance the academic programming and curriculum of the school.
Position Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in administration and valid Secondary School certificate or equivalent.
- Five (5) years teaching experience, preferably in a Catholic high school.
- Proven knowledge of and experience with instructional leadership, curriculum design, and assessment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A practicing Catholic who upholds the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.
- Knowledge and experience working with government programs related to education.
- Knowledge and experience preparing annual State, Diocesan, North Central Association, and OCSAA reports.
- Experience in the supervision and coordination of spiritual activities, educational instruction, curriculum, and school‐family activities.
- Experience in fiscal and personnel management as it relates to the instructional program.
- Experience in using multiple sources of data as diagnostic tools to assess, identify and apply instructional improvement.
- Desire to work in an environment that is flexible, collaborative, innovative and supportive of efforts to improve achievement of all students.
- Experience in utilizing and integrating technology in a school setting.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist the Principal in directing and guiding the academic integrity of the school
- Serves as an instructional leader responsible for all aspects of the academic program.
- Coordinates and supervises curriculum development and instructional planning.
- Observes and evaluates educational personnel and monitors all educational systems.
- Creates and manages the master schedule for teachers and students.
- Manages the school’s student information system, assisting teachers, families, and students with using the system.
- Assists with professional development for faculty and to aid in faculty formation and evaluation
- Collaborates with Guidance Department to facilitate student support services, including accommodation plans, tutoring and counseling services.
Enhance the culture and mission of the school
- Collaborates with the Principal, Assistant Principal for Student Life and Discipline, and Department Heads to ensure program alignment with Holy Name’s mission and successful achievement of its strategic program goals.
- Partners with the Admissions Director, Athletic Director, Campus Minister, and other co- and extra-curricular directors to advance the school’s mission.
Serve as a steward of the success and longevity of the school
- Assists with the accreditation process and implementation of the strategic and school improvement plans.
- Contributes to the enrollment management through admissions and retention programs.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as requested by the Holy Name Administration and Office of Catholic Education.
Build relationships internally and externally
- Collaborates with faculty and staff on day-to-day operations and overall effectiveness of the school.
- Interacts with all constituents of Holy Name as needed, proactively where possible.
