The City of Parma Heights has informed us that the paving project on Queens Highway and Layor Drive will begin tomorrow, Friday, September 2.
Here are a few important details:
Although most of the work will be done between 8 AM and 2 PM, this phase of the construction process will need to begin at 7:30 AM so it can get done in the appropriate timeframe. Heavy machinery and several workers will likely be on the street by the time you come to school tomorrow. Additionally, the work will extend past the end of the school day.
We have been told workers will start at the bottom of Queens Highway, closest to Snow Road. Because of this, a flagger will be at the end of Queens in the morning to help direct traffic if necessary. They will work there way up the street, and to Layor Drive eventually.
Because of the road work, those picking up students at the end of the school day will not be able to line up/wait on Layor Drive or Queens Highway for the foreseeable future. We realize this is not ideal, but we appreciate the cooperation in making this process as smooth as possible so we can soon enjoy an equally smooth roadway.
If you typically arrive prior to dismissal time and have become accustomed to waiting on Queens/Layor for a student, we ask you to park in the teacher lot off Layor, or utilize the empty spots in the back student lot off Queens. Students also are able to wait on campus, supervised in the cafeteria, until as late as 4 PM. No one is required to vacate the building immediately at 2:32 PM. If it helps to arrive later to pick up a student, we recommend it, especially during this repaving process.
Additionally, please remember that the circle in front of Holy Name is considered a fire lane. The only vehicles permitted to park on the circle are school buses and emergency vehicles who may need immediate access to the building.
Thank you for reading. We appreciate everyone’s patience as this paving project begins, and encourage everyone to drive cautiously and courteously in respect of the workers doing their best to get a job done. Hopefully, with everyone’s cooperation, the project will be done quickly and we will be enjoying a beautiful, bump-free roadway sooner rather than later.
