Congratulations to senior Kayla Muro who has earned the President’s Scholarship from Baldwin Wallace, where she will study Psychology.
Kayla describes her college decision-making process as rather easy. Her brother David chose Baldwin Wallace when he graduated from Holy Name in 2020, so she saw first-hand how incredible the school was. She recalls, “Walking through the campus on my tour, I was instantly captured by how beautiful it was. It is incredibly relaxing to be surrounded by the nature the campus provides.” Because she plans to commute during college, Kayla also liked BW for its proximity to home.
After college, Kayla plans to become a clinical psychologist and help individuals and families with their mental health.
Her favorite class at HN is Honors Anatomy and Physiology with Mrs. McCafferty. She credits that class, along with Honors Biology, with instilling in her the study skills that are crucial to her current and future success. She says, “Although I’m not going to be a doctor or surgeon and Mrs. McCafferty has to tell me to look away from the board since I’m so squeamish, it is incredibly interesting and exciting to learn about the human body.”
Kayla also loved History of Rock and Roll with Mr. Campus. She appreciates the class, which she took during her junior year, for allowing her to relate to her grandpa and his interests. She and her grandpa would often discuss the music she had encountered in class.
Asked to offer a piece of advice to underclassmen, Kayla says, “Be unapologetically yourself. It isn’t worth walking into school every morning pretending to be someone who you aren’t.”
Congratulations to Kayla, and stay tuned for more senior profiles!
