Congratulations to senior Jamal Carter who will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design next fall.
Jamal has always longed to live in the warm-weathered South, so SCAD’s location and, more importantly, its status as the #1 school for film and television made it the perfect fit for him.
After college, Jamal hopes to live in Atlanta, Georgia and own “the most triumphant production company the world has to offer.”
Jamal identifies US government as his favorite class at HN. However, he also describes digital media and his English classes with Mrs. Humphrey as among the most influential courses he took. He says, “These classes allowed me to elaborate my thoughts on being free. When I speak of freedom, I no longer speak of physical liberty but the freedom to express, to believe, to speak and to have the desire to be successful.”
Reflecting on his own experiences and aspirations, Jamal urges underclassmen to “allow yourself to grow by learning who you are and what’s best for you and not anyone else, such as family. Trust your intuition and advocate for yourself more than anyone around you. Take a leap of faith. Surround yourself with five (future) millionaires because you are likely to become the sixth.”
Congratulations to Jamal, and stay tuned for more senior profiles!
