HN business teacher and Investment Club moderator, Mrs. Cynthia Farley earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Cleveland State University.
Before coming to HN, where she has taught for the past five years, Mrs. Farley taught for three years at Elyria High School.
At HN, she is responsible for investing, accounting, introduction to business and personal finance, and entrepreneurship courses.
Mrs. Farley describes those courses—and the business field in general—as “extremely practical and interesting.” In particular, she appreciates the opportunities she has each day to help her students succeed in their careers.
Her favorite lesson to teach involves showing students how to create a simple budget using fixed and variable expenses. Whether in that lesson or in others, Mrs. Farley regularly utilizes technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Classroom/Drive.
Besides her interactions with students, Mrs. Farley enjoys the unflagging optimism of the HN faculty and staff, and she recalls the first white elephant gift exchange at the faculty Christmas party as her favorite memory.
In her free time, Mrs. Farley enjoys walking, jazzercise, swimming, reading, and spending time with family.
She urges her students to show persistence and perseverance and to “never give up.”
