In his 23rd year of teaching, Mr. Michael Palcisko has, for the past four years, taught freshman theology at HN. Prior to joining the HN faculty, Mr. Palcisko taught for 10 years at Cleveland Central Catholic.
He earned his associate’s degree in applied electronic technology from ETI Technical College, his bachelor’s degree in electronic technology from Walsh College, and his master’s in education from John Carroll University.
Mr. Palcisko became a teacher because it “is a profession where you can change lives and make a difference in the world.” Asked to explain his selection of theology as the subject he wanted to teach, Mr. Palcisko explains, “I want my students to know the greatest relationship is a mystical relationship with Jesus Christ.”
His favorite lesson to teach is the story of David and Goliath because it allows him to remind his students to never give up and embrace the challenges of life. He says, “When God puts a Goliath in front of us, there’s a little David in each of us.”
Whatever the topic, Mr. Palcisko incorporates technology to bring his lessons to life. This includes Kahoot, Blooket, and various other forms of interactive learning software.
His favorite memory at HN was beating Padua in the football playoffs. He says, “The student body is the heart and soul of Holy Name High School. The school really came together. Namer Pride City Wide!”
Besides teaching and spreading school spirit, Mr. Palcisko is also the moderator of HN’s Coffee Club.
In whatever free time he has left, he enjoys collecting vintage sports cards.
Truly, his favorite way to spend his time, though, is serving others. In word and deed, he reminds his students that “the greatest gift of living is giving of oneself!”
