Angel Scholarship: Providing the Gift of a Catholic Education

Last year, Holy Name was fortunate to benefit from the state of Ohio's scholarship tax credit opportunity. With this, Ohio taxpayers may receive a 100% tax credit against their Ohio income tax liability for donations to an approved Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO), with a maximum credit of $750 ($1,500 for married couples filing jointly, when each spouse makes a donation).

In other words, the state of Ohio allows you to "spend" some of the state income taxes you must pay anyway, providing tuition assistance for students seeking an education at Holy Name.

Holy Name students are then able to apply for tuition assistance in the form of a scholarship from the SGO. For Holy Name, the SGO is the Diocese of Cleveland's Angel Scholarship Fund (ASF). This fund is being managed locally by the Catholic Community Foundation.

Thanks to those Holy Name supporters who participated in the program last year, 54 of our students received $45,000 in tuition assistance from the Angel Scholarship Fund during the 2023-2024 school year.

Now we look to the future, and how we can continue to best serve and support our students. Our goal is to have $75,000 in the Angel Scholarship Fund earmarked for Holy Name for the 2024-2025 school year!
