Holy Name is very proud to share that we have two National Merit Commended Students in the Class of 2023: Sophia Pagsanjan and Alexandros Georgussis. Sophia and Alexandros earned this honor after scoring exceptionally well on the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). Out of the 1.3 million students who took the PSAT/NMSQT, only 34,000 earned Commended Student status.
Sophia is a graduate of Menlo Park Academy in Cleveland. She is in the Top 10 Academically for the Holy Name Class of 2023. Outside of the classroom, Sophia is involved in several school-sponsored activities, including Esports, Gaming Club, JustWrite, STEAM Club, Art Club, and Academic Challenge. On top of her high achievements in the classroom and many extracurricular activities, Sophia works at Artist for a Day, and also enjoys skateboarding and martial arts. She plans to study Robotics and/or Computer Science in college.
Alexandros attended Our Lady of Angels in Cleveland’s West Park neighborhood. He too is in the Class of 2023’s Academic Top 10, and is in National Honor Society. If you have attended a Fall Play or Spring Musical at Holy Name, you have seen Alexandros perform. He is also involved with JustWrite, Game Club, Intramural Volleyball, Senior Senate, and Model United Nations. Last year he was a member of the Academic Challenge team that appeared on the News 5 Cleveland show with the same name. Additionally, Alexandros manages the Holy Name Esports Team and previously was on the Bowling Team. During his college years he plans to double major in Psychology and Pre-Law, or Psychology and Chemistry.
We congratulate both of these exceptional senior scholars!
