Junior theology teacher Ms. Katie Schuerger is in her fourth year as a member of the HN faculty. She earned degrees in catechetics and theology with a concentration in youth ministry from Franciscan University of Steubenville.
Mrs. Denise Humphrey began her journey towards becoming an English teacher at HN by earning her bachelor’s degree in English and education at John Carroll University. She then taught junior high for half a year at St. Vincent De Paul and high school for one year at North Olmsted.
A graduate of the University of Mount Union, where he majored in history and education, Mr. Joey Keleman has taught at HN for three years. His courses include nutrition, first aid, and weightlifting. He also serves as HN’s assistant director of admissions and varsity football and baseball coach.
HN students recently volunteered at Stearns Farm, the Cleveland APL, the Cleveland Food Bank, including a food distribution event at the Muni Lot, the Strongsville Horticultural Garden, and the Cleveland Metroparks.
A 1985 graduate of HN and 30-year veteran teacher, Mr. Ed McDonnell earned his Bachelor of Science in Education at Bowling Green State University. He taught for two years at Regina High School before coming to HN, where he currently teaches Chemistry and Honors Chemistry. Mr. McDonnell is also the moderator of Fishing Club, Medical Careers Club, and Film Club.
In his 23rd year of teaching, Mr. Michael Palcisko has, for the past four years, taught freshman theology at HN. Prior to joining the HN faculty, Mr. Palcisko taught for 10 years at Cleveland Central Catholic.
HN math teacher Mr. Anthony Lanza earned his BS in mathematics from Grove City College and his M.Ed from Grand Canyon University. He is currently in his fourth year at HN, where he teaches Algebra 2, Honors Algebra 2 with Trigonometry, and AP Calculus BC.
In her 13th year of teaching at HN, Art Department Chair Mrs. Beth Ryan earned her BA at Ursuline College and her MA at Case Western Reserve University. Her current courses include Design 1, Design 2, Drawing & Painting, CCP Art Foundations, Ceramics, and Portfolio.
Recently, Mr. PJ Farrell’s Gaming Concepts class and Mrs. Julie Brannigan’s Digital Art and Design III class teamed up to create their own tangible and fully functional board games.
A graduate of Baldwin Wallace, Mr. Joe Eiben has taught US History at Holy Name for the past five years. More recently, he added Intro to Philosophy to his course load. He also moderates Cooking Club, directs the Sunshine Committee, and participates in the Accreditation Committee.
Congratulations to senior Sean Joyce who has received the prestigious Gund Scholarship—worth $22,000 per year—to study at the Cleveland Institute of Art.

New to the HN family this year, Mr. James Litteral teaches Marching Band, Jazz Band, Choir, History of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Music Theory, and Symphonic Band. He also leads the Marching and Pep Bands.
